Is a Math Trade possible??
I heard about people trading games at other gaming conventions using something called a Math Trade. I don't know a whole lot about it but I do know some people who may. Anyway, I was wondering if there is any plan for one? If you would have one? And can one be set up for HammerCon? I've got a few games I'd trade if others traded some good ones.

Hi Dave, I love the math
Hi Dave,
I love the math trade idea and have participated in one in the past. We did consider it for HammerCon this year, but in the end we ended up with a Game Marketplace (read: Bring and Buy) setup instead. It gives us a bit more flexibility and is easier to organize. I just sent out an announcement about this, so if you haven't seen it yet, you will soon (or you can go to http://www.hammercon.ca/marketplace and read more).
Having said that, if someone else would like to organize a Math Trade that takes place at HammerCon when everyone's gathered in one spot, that's no problem at all! In fact, the Hammer Games website would be a great place to organize that. In terms of engagement from the HammerCon organizers, we can set aside some space and time for the trades to take place, but we can't dedicate manpower to it I'm afraid - nor can we (obviously) endorse or otherwise undersign the trades taking place.
How's that sound?
If I were not already
If I were not already volunteering to help out in other capacities, I would gladly organize this. As it is, I would still be happy to work with you, Dave, on the BGG side of it (setting up the geeklists, OWLWG, etc.), I just don't have time on the day of to help.
I wouldn't know what to do on
I wouldn't know what to do on either side of a Math Trade. i' have seriously only ever just heard about them. I haven't even had the chance to enter one. :-) What would I have to do at the Con? Would I still have time to play games because let's face it. The gaming is really why I want to go. :-)
Dave, I suggest you
Dave, I suggest you participate in the next TabsCon Math Trade with me, so you can see how it works, and then you and I could plan for running one at Hammercon next year. I suspect we don't really have time to put it together for this year.
I kind of thought that time
I kind of thought that time was going to be an issue. I figure the longer you have the trade posted, the better the selection that would appear. I was going to get into the TABS trade as well, but I thought that maybe HAMMERCON would be good too, but you're right, next year would be better. I'll also get a chance to maybe see how this all works better.
Oh well, pencil me in for next year as the Math Trade guy. :-) I'm sure by then I'll understand really well how to run one of these. Well, I can hope so anyway. LOL :-)
